The Haole Boys

vintage leis

On Tuesday the 15th, we went to a fun concert at Brigham Young Historical Park!!  The performers for that evening were The Haole Boys.  They sang old Hawaiian tunes from the “Tin Pan Alley” era.  It was lots of fun and their music was really good!!  There are concerts at the park there every Tuesday and Friday all summer!!  This Tuesday’s performance is called “Llajtayku” and I’m REALLY excited for it!!  It’s traditional music from the Andes of South America!!  I LOVE traditional Andean music!!!!

Time for a Riddle!

After reading some Dan Brown and feeling nostalgic for “Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego” I have decided to put out a little riddle for all of you to try to solve.

Here is the riddle:

There is a giant delta,

On the first corner is the Third Rome, The Imperial City

On the second corner is the Third Carthage, The Heroic City

On the third corner is the Twenty-first Olympia, The City of Glass by the Sea

And in the center is Terra Nova, Erik’s land of Vines

First hint: Delta refers to a triangle (Δ). There are three cities on the corners of this triangle and a region in the center. The first person to name all four wins (the prize has yet to be determined). If nobody’s figured it out in a week, I’ll start adding more hints to see if that helps. However, with a little help from Google and Wikipedia I think you’ll all figure it out.

Good luck, gumshoes!

On Memorial Day, we went to the aviary at Liberty Park!!  It was so much fun.  There were lots of really cute birds!!!

There were local birds.

These eagles are here because they have had wing injuries and can’t fly anymore.IMG_0960IMG_0965IMG_1024IMG_1013

And there were exotic birds.

We saw some colorful birds.

I even made a little video of my favorite birds!!  They are Guira Cuckoos and they’re native to South America.  They made the cutest sounds ever, but they didn’t really sing much for the video.
